Consulting Actuary – Retirement and Pension

THE POSITION

We are recruiting for a Pension Consulting Actuary with 4-7 years of relevant experience. Are you a data-driven professional interested in working with market leading tools and technology? THE ROLE

A Consulting Actuary will be responsible for supporting Odyssey’s strategic growth by leading and delivering strategic client engagements, serving as strategic advisor to clients, developing new business and products and assisting a team of actuarial consultants. You’ll also be asked to contribute your thought leadership through newsletters, white papers, case studies and other tools to inform our clients on topical issues.

  • Lead and manage multiple client relationships and engagements
  • Implement initiatives for Odyssey products, tools and services through training and regular meetings
  • New Business Development – Support new business and/or product lines for the organization’s growth
  • Establish a trusted advisor role with clients and provide consistent, superior relationship management
  • Identify opportunities to cross sell projects and services to current clients
  • Contribute to new marketing initiatives to generate sales leads
  • Finalize and present quality deliverables to clients
  • Provide deep level of technical expertise for client relationships
  • Assist actuaries and other financial experts in the delivery of value-added models, projections and analytics
  • Mentor others and support their professional growth

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Required:

  • 4-8 years actuarial experience and success in the design and management of retirement and/or OPEB benefits gained in a consulting environment
  • A broad understanding of business strategies & issues to allow better engagement with our clients
  • Proven ability to recognize and diagnose issues, work in teams, and leverage the resources of other related practices to address client challenges
  • An executive presence with polished and well-developed written and oral communication skills
  • Superior ability to influence and collaborate with senior management and work across all levels of an organization
  • EA required, Bachelors STEM degree preferred, ASA preferred
  • Must be a US Citizen or have US Work Authorization as we do not sponsor for any Visas

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s STEM degree preferred
  • Internal or external client management experience
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft® Excel and Access
  • Expertise in Salesforce
  • Experience with LynchVal and ASC
  • Strong task management skills; detail orientation and organizational and analytical skills
  • Understanding of client business issues
  • Ability to work well with other team members, and to provide leadership
  • Demonstrate ability to develop relationships within/outside of the Actuarial practice
